Richard Craig
Flutes

Described as “a primal, at times ecstatic state of Fauvist force…” (Gramophone Magazine), Richard Craig has developed a distinctive approach to the flute, collaborating with composers to develop new works for the instrument. He studied flute at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, and with Mario Caroli at the Conservatoire de Musique Strasbourg.

He has performed with groups such as Musikfabrik, Klangforum Wien, and other new music ensembles across Europe and the UK. While a member of Distractfol, Richard was co-recipient of the Kranichstein Music Prize for Interpretation. As a recording artist, he has two solo discs, Vale and Inward, and recorded for Another Timbre, Wergo, FHR and Métier.

Also active as a composer, improviser and academic, Richard was Head of Performance at Bangor University and currently teaches at University of Edinburgh.
