My collaborations with the Riot Ensemble - whether in breathing new life into the experimental music of Pauline Oliveros, augmenting instruments with electronics, or painstakingly crafting recordings for our upcoming portrait release - exemplify both their adventurous spirit and their expressive range. Riot Ensemble has made an invaluable contribution to new music by championing an aesthetically diverse range of music, and performing and recording these works with so much grace and élan, bringing a fresh and energetic approach to each new project.

Works by an international array of emerging composers placed alongside and in the context of masterworks from the contemporary repertoire has formed the foundation of Riot’s programming since our formation in 2012. Many of our commissions feature on our growing discography, and all of our concerts result in other digital recordings and videos. Our annual call for scores receives roughly 300 applicants, and has resulted in more than a dozen commissions of composers from all over the world.

Since 2012, we’ve given more than two hundred premieres on our concerts and have hosted composers from Australia, Italy, Hungary, Argentina, Brazil, Austria, Spain, France, South Korea and the United States to hear their music performed in the UK for the first time. We commission brand new work, and spend a lot of time listening to music – both in live concerts and digitally – to find music we’re passionate about playing for our audiences.

On these pages, you can find information about the composers we’ve closely collaborated with, and links taking you to music by most of the composers we’ve performed live.
