Our 2017 Call for Scores is now closed! We are amazed and honoured that 279 composers from more than 20 countries have applied. Thank you – we are so looking forward to getting to know your music.
We will announce the selected composers on 10th April.
On October 28th, we will give the UK Premiere of Chaya Czernowin’s Ayre: Towed through plumes, thicket, asphalt, sawdust and hazardous air I shall not forget the sound of. Two chosen composers will write new works for bass flute, bass clarinet, percussion, piano, violin, viola and cello. The composers will receive:
- Rehearsals and public premiere of their new work in Brighton on 28 October 2017
- A professional AV recording of their piece. (Though this is not a guarantee, both of our 2016 commissions will appear on our second commercial CD, to be released with Coviello Classics later this year).
- A broadcast on ResonanceFM.
Each composer will also receive a £550 commission fee for the work.
Update: 3 additional commissions for Nordic Music Days
In addition to the two commissioned pieces listed above, we are excited to announce that we will select three UK-based composers for a project with Riot Ensemble at Nordic Music Days 2017. This project will see two workshops at the Southbank Centre in late Sept 2017, and a performance of a new piece in Sweden in Spring 2018. Travel and accommodation in Sweden will be provided for the three participating composers. There is no additional requirements, simply put in an application below and UK-based composers will be considered for this additional project.
